Myffie has been involved in the Arts for the past 40 years and associated with PDA since 1992 when her two daughters enrolled in their first ballet classes. Fifteen years later, she and her family took over the management of the Academy with the intention of upholding the legacy of inclusion established by the Founder, Marlene Mayall.
Myffie has enjoyed running PDA and is one of the few people who can honestly say – it isn’t work, it’s who I am.
Teaching: ballet, contemporary, jazz, exam, solo choreographer, creative movement dance & body conditioning.
Elyse is currently completing her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management with ADi.
Elyse studied Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Tap at PDA before being accepted into one of Australia’s leading dance programs at the Victorian College of the Arts, where she studied full time dance (BA Dance) under the guidance and mentorship of many renowned choreographers. Following her study years, she was invited to dance with Moving Words; a contemporary/lyrical company headed by Christine Barratt. Elyse returned to PDA to teach as well as various local dance schools before owning and managing her own dance school.
She has since completed further study and gained her Royal Academy of Dance Ballet teaching Registration under the mentorship of R.A.D. tutor Julie Fleming. She is currently a Senior Teacher in ballet and contemporary, solo choreography, CSTD contemporary, jazz and tap and has much experience in tutoring R.A.D. teachers.
Elyse is also trained in Pilates and Massage Therapy and combines techniques to promote core strength, muscle control and flexibility in her students.
With her sister, Jessica, she co-founded and heads the Parkwood Dance Crew (PDC) to provide highly dedicated, elite students with specialist choreography and performance opportunities to represent PDA in community events and dance competitions.

Jessica has danced for twenty six years in many styles of dance including Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Ballet, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Drama and Singing. She studied many years at PDA until being offered a position in full-time dance at the Dance Factory where she studied Certificate IV in Dance and Performance. She also holds CSTD Theatrical, Jazz and Tap Teaching certifications and has completed the highest level of performance examinations to gain her CSTD Blue Sash. More recently she achieved her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management and a Training and Assessment with Australian Dance Institute.
Upon completion she was invited to become an assessor for ADi, assessing schools all over the country in the ADV syllabus.
With her sister, Elyse, she co-founded and heads the Parkwood Dance Crew (PDC) to provide highly dedicated, elite students with specialist choreography and performance opportunities to represent PDA in community events and dance competitions.
Located in central Park Orchards with superbly appointed studios and highly qualified teachers. Our students are offered a refreshing program, full of dancing, performing and the art of learning. We also offer opportunities to selected students in our Scholarship, the Class Assistant Program and Parkwood Dance Crew.
Our mission is to encourage students of all ages and levels to experience the world of dance while gaining the benefits of self-esteem, poise and physical well-being. Classes provide a fun and educational environment; that encourages both happy and intelligent dancers.
We focus on a syllabus-based dance education (we are one of the largest C.S.T.D. Tap and Jazz examination schools in Victoria) with caring, experienced professionals. Our teachers are dedicated to providing quality instruction through positive reinforcement, while being actively involved in student’s physical/mental development as a dancer.

• exhibit behaviours with children which may be construed as unnecessarily physical. Dance by its very nature requires some physical touch for correction. Teachers can create a safe environment by asking permission of students first.
• do things of a personal nature that a child can do for themselves, such as toileting or changing clothes
• engage in open discussions of a mature or adult nature in the presence of children with use of inappropriate language in the presence of children
• express personal views on cultures, race or sexuality in the presence of children
• discriminate against any child, including because of culture, race, ethnicity or disability
• have contact with a child or their family outside of our organisation without our child safety officer’s knowledge and/or consent (for example, no babysitting).
• have any online contact with a child or their family (unless necessary, for example providing families with e- newsletters)
• ignore or disregard any suspected or disclosed child abuse.

Parkwood Dance Academy is managed by The Hof Family – Myffie, Elyse and Jessica; each bringing over 20 years’ experience in Performing Arts – Examinations, Teaching, Performing, Productions and Education to the Manningham community.
The Park Orchards dance school was founded by Marlene Mayall in 1976. The Hof’s have been involved with the school since 1992 and have managed it for almost 15 years. The School is well regarded within the dance industry and is considered a leader in dance education.
PDA conducts classes in 4 purpose-built dance studios at Domeney Recreation Centre. Their teachers are experienced professionals who attend regular industry workshops to remain current in their dance styles and to update their teaching skills. All teachers have been approved for a Working-with-Children-Check. Many of them have completed dual qualifications in dance and dance teaching as well as Certificates and Degrees in Physiotherapy, Pilates, Massage therapy, Medicine, Musical theatre and Law. Senior staff has experience dancing and teaching interstate and overseas both privately and commercially.
PDA is a member of AusDance and is affiliated with 2 well established and globally recognised dance societies:
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance (CSTD). These provide the syllabi for the Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Contemporary examinations offered at PDA.
PDA is also affiliated with Australian Dance institute (ADi) who are the providers of the Certificate I, II, and III VET program offered, which in later academic years can be awarded towards student VCE ATAR scores.
As well as the range of styles and classes that Parkwood Dance Academy offers, we provide many events, performance opportunities and current information regarding extra- curricular events. All of these combine to ensure our students are offered breadth to their practical knowledge and application of Performing Arts.
PDA has an excellent depth of pathways and programs of study. There are classes to suit 3 year olds to Adults with a wide range of skills and abilities, for study or fun and fitness. There are teaching programs, classes for special needs students and a performance team of elite, highly committed dancers who wish to continue their dance training at tertiary level.
